Garden Center

A garden center sells both plants and a wide range of products related to garden care. These retail firms are open to the public. They have facilities to both care for and display various plants. These are some subtle differences between those of the United Kingdom and those of the United States.

In the UK, a garden center will commonly sell such things as plants, compost, fertilizers, statues, and garden ornaments. Some are even known to have supplies for small pets. In more recent years, some have evolved into leisure destinations. They include restaurants and play areas for children for a more appealing shopping experience. Products are often emphasized over plants. The plants sold will generally have been obtained from a nursery.

A garden center in the United States will usually operate as a nursery itself. They provide many annual and perennial flowers in addition to trees, shrubs, house plants, seeds, bulbs, etc. Feed for wild birds and barbecue materials may also be provided. Some may offer a small coffee bar, but they do not include restaurants as European garden centers may.
